EKF 2008, Loughborough
European seminar
It is with one very great pleasure that I report here fast the 25th internship EKF which took place from 2 till 14 July 2008 in Loughborough Great Britain.
A great pleasure because once again our Federation distinguished itself in quantity and quality. In quantity first because we were about 70 French on 250 participants. It is always proof that the Federation of Kyudo Traditionnel FFKT could create a culture which makes like Kyudo offered by ANKF and IKYF. The quality of the job of the French Kyudojin and their results are as proof as Clubs, their Shogo, Presidents and Офисs did a very good job. That they are congratulated on it here from the heart and thanked for their efforts.
Internship C for 0 and 1st DAN ANKF was run by four of the grad s highest Europeans:
In the statements of our Technical Head the behaviour of Frenchmen was exemplary both in the practice of Kyudo and their desire to teach and in their behaviours out of Dojo. I personally joined them last day as juror. I was impressed by their seriousness and their desire to make well.
The following day, we were five in jury with in our back the Japanese sensei of ANKF. Ray DOLPHIN Kyoshi 6th dan ANKF was responsible for written examination. The passage of rank was of a very good level. Without revealing the secrets of deliberation, every juror indicated those and those to whom they allocated asked rank. Study consisted in recording polls. After some exchanges of points of view decisions were made. You know results. FFKT thanks all participants whom they get or not asked rank.
Internship A for 4th DAN ANKF and more was run by:
This internship was one very high level of pedagogy as always but with a notch below. We want to help you to become very good European teachers ICHIRO UOZUMI said to us. The resumption of bases and the job of Kaizoe the first day made understand to us an obviousness: the more they go up to ranks and titles and the less they draw in quantity therefore some arrows drawn during the day are accomplished with a density and a remarkable quality. It is in these instants there that they have interest in holding his Kai before the starting.
Examinations were difficult and FFKT recorded the arrival of new three 5th DAN ANKF, 6th DAN ANKF and Renshi. That it is allowed to me here to congratulate Catherine, Nicolas and Yveline for the new rank. This day there they could lead their practice up to success. FREDERICK MICHEL deserved well his 6th DAN ANKF. He is the only one to have attained the target twice with the quality of shooting which we know it for a long time. The keeping of its Kai was exemplary and both Hanare was carried out of ways express and without hesitancy. TERENCE GRIFFIN is now our new Renshi. Formed for a long time to the school of Great Britain he assured me that since its installation in France, the ambience of our Federation and the friendship which we carry to it is so for the most part in its success. LAURENCE ORIOU, our Technical manager has already informed him about his future duties and he answered to be ready to help us.
Internship B was run by four sensei Japanese of ANKF accompanied by European shogo:
Internship took place with the same intensity as for internship A. We will all remember the shooting of madam Terumi AKIYAMA Hanshi 8 dan. Those who had the chance to have noticed it attended a shooting of an intensity and of an exceptional execution. Results in the passages of ranks were for our federation better in what is generally made at this level: a third of receipts. That they are congratulated on it here.
I have a thought as all church-goers who did not get the rank which they introduced. Let us not fool ourselves to ourselves, it is always painful. For some years I feel the same pain and I commiserate with all my friends of misfortune. Japanese Martial Arts teach us something exceptional that we do not find in Europe: the dignity of failure. Having accomplished its shooting, position Zanshin is kept, arm in cross one instant and arms and look are slowly brought back. It is in this slowness there that we learn to keep position in spite of failure and that we leave the step of shooting with dignity. It is as for it as we like Kyudo because this chess there gives a blow to our Ego, take from us away our phantasms, defecate us and make develop us internally.
This internship EKF was therefore on all plans a success. I want to thank all members of the FFKT who worked in his success. First of all thanks to JEAN-FRAN OIS DECATRA who led exchanges of master's hand with the Federation of Great Britain and wrote this Letter which created a collective consciousness around this demonstration. We also thank NAEKO OHTA who was kind enough to undertake to buy the nice presents which EKF delayed in the name of all countries in sensei Japanese. Thank you also to JEAN-CLAUDE TRAMIER who assured all jobs of administrative recording and of controls. Let us not forget PIERRE GASSER and his helper for internship C SERGE FENECH for the job of accountancy and the reception of cheques for those who got their rank. Finally one thank you very much in French shogo who stayed in internship B. I am persuaded that they recorded many information which they will transmit as always during the practice of our Federation.
Thanks to all,
CHARLES-LOUIS ORIOU
President of the FFKT
