Created in 1978, the Federation of Kyudo Traditionnel is today, the only French federation of Kyudo admitted by the Japanese Federation of Kyudo (ANKF), the Federation European de Kyudo (EKF) and the International Federation of Kyudo (IKYF). One is affiliated since 2002 to the French Federation of A kido and Budo (FFAB) agreed it by the Ministry of the Youth it and Sports. FFKT regroups about fifty of clubs or "Dojos" divided on all France and gathers about 600 church-goers, (among whom about 1/3 women).
Besides the common practice in 47 linked dojos affi, FFKT organises or participates in many practice and regional, federal, European and international tournament. The annual European practice organised jointly by ANKF and EKF and in the presence of Japanese masters allows to accept their education directly and to cross ranks (dan). International practice takes place every three or four years in Japan.
The Japanese Federation of Kyudo takes an active part in the development of Kyudo in Europe. For 20 years, she sends sensei (Japanese Masters - bowmen) to teach the Western church-goers non-stop. Transmission takes place slowly and the highest grad s French and European see themselves charged by the Japanese masters today to teach most beginners in their turn.

ANKF (All Nippon Kyudo Federation) is the acronym anglicised by ZNKR (Zen Nihon Ky d Renmei), the Japanese federation of Kyudo.
It exists since 1949 and facing the diversity of the practices of Kyudo of many traditional schools, one of his first tasks was to harmonise the Principles of Shooting (Shah ), to design a standardization, to unify the approach of Kyudo. This became a reality by publication, in 1953, of the volume 1 of Ky d Ky hon, work which records the current norms of forms, of behaviour and of shooting.
EKF (European Kyudo Federation) is the European federation of Kyudo. It exists since 1980, and includes 14 countries now members. his current president is Charles-Louis Oriou (France), 6th Renshi dan.
She organises, under the aegis of ANKF (Japanese federation), an annual seminar of training of the church-goers, to transmit Kyudo such as it was formalized by ANKF. Japanese sensei is especially delegated there to this effect.
Ranks and titles are issued at the end of a practical examination and of a written test. In Europe, it is possible to take exams of the 1st Dan to the 6th Dan, and to get the title (Shogo) of Renshi (instructor). Ranks and upper titles are accessible only by examinations crossed in Japan.
